It's called a "cap" sitar because it has a visor (with no cardboard reinforcement) that hides the eyes without blocking visibility: it's the principle of seeing without being seen!

Why the cap?

Thanks to its visor, the niqab cap has the advantage of concealing the eyes while leaving the view ahead unobstructed. It also encourages you to lower your gaze, as visibility in front is less than with a classic sitar.
